How to play Notice the Need
Notice a difference before deciding what it might need. Look across a field of similar tokens and find the differently shaped one. The puzzle rewards careful observation of a visible detail, without assigning meaning to the people playing.
Your starting point
Notice a difference before deciding what it might need.
The rules
Scan the tokens and tap the one with a different shape. Compare outlines rather than relying only on colour; the odd token is visually distinct.
A helpful approach
Scan the board in a consistent direction. Compare the outline of each token, and take a second look before deciding which one differs. Think about the recipient’s actual preference, and keep any offer specific enough that you can comfortably follow through.
After the game
What detail did you overlook at first and notice on a second look? What small offer could be useful to someone while still leaving them completely free to decline it?
There is no need to turn a small moment into a perfect performance. Play again if you want to explore it, or leave it here and take the thought into your day.
The feeling behind it
Offer useful help, notice a need and ask before stepping in. The recipient gets to choose what care looks like for them.
Community meals and voluntary service inspire practical care. These religious practices are not simply a lifestyle word for kindness.
Read our kindness story, inspired by Langar and seva in Sikh tradition, including Amritsar, India. The Incredible India: Sri Harmandir Sahib, Golden Temple provides the source context.
