How to play The Changed Window

Notice what changed in an otherwise familiar picture. Look across a field of similar tokens and find the differently shaped one. The puzzle rewards careful observation of a visible detail, without assigning meaning to the people playing.

Your starting point

Notice what changed in an otherwise familiar picture.

The word palette: distant · echo · letter · home · miss · again · remember · near.

The rules

Scan the tokens and tap the one with a different shape. Compare outlines rather than relying only on colour; the odd token is visually distinct.

A helpful approach

Scan the board in a consistent direction. Compare the outline of each token, and take a second look before deciding which one differs. Use only a memory you feel comfortable visiting, and let the activity end without requiring a reunion or reply.

After the game

What detail did you overlook at first and notice on a second look? Which small detail from a person or place would you like to remember without asking it to return?

There is no need to turn a small moment into a perfect performance. Play again if you want to explore it, or leave it here and take the thought into your day.

The feeling behind it

A note for missing someone, a familiar street or a chapter of life. Longing can hold warmth and ache together.

A music-and-poetry tradition inspires giving feeling a voice; fado is not a single emotion or a generic label for sadness.

Read our longing story, inspired by Fado in Lisbon and Portuguese communities. The UNESCO: Fado, urban popular song of Portugal provides the source context.
