How to play Recognise the Effort
A friend finishes a scarf after learning several new techniques. Which message recognises their work specifically? Read the scenario and consider three replies. Choose a considerate response without guessing somebody’s private feelings.
Your starting point
A friend finishes a scarf after learning several new techniques. Which message recognises their work specifically?
The rules
Read the scenario and all the possible replies. Choose the response that respects the person’s stated needs and choices. Review the feedback and reflect on the wording.
A helpful approach
Use only the information in the scenario. Look for a response that asks, listens or explains clearly without assuming what another person secretly thinks. Name a particular effort, decision or learned skill rather than measuring the achievement against another person’s result.
After the game
What made one response leave more room for the other person’s own choice? What part of a recent effort deserves acknowledgement even if the finished result is still imperfect or private?
There is no need to turn a small moment into a perfect performance. Play again if you want to explore it, or leave it here and take the thought into your day.
The feeling behind it
Acknowledge effort, craft, learning and progress without turning someone else into a comparison. There is room for your own small achievement.
A weaving tradition inspires respect for skill and learning. Kente patterns carry specific meanings that these games do not reproduce.
Read our pride story, inspired by Kente craftsmanship in Ghana. The UNESCO: Craftsmanship of traditional woven textile Kente provides the source context.
